John R. Park Debate Society Soars in San Diego
The John R. Park Debate Society continued its 2022-2023 competitive season on October 21-23, 2022, traveling to San Diego, California to compete at the Sunset Cliffs Classic hosted by Pt. Loma Nazarene University. Six University of Utah students competed against a field of 34 other schools, including Rice University, Concordia University Irvine, Point Loma Nazarene University, and the University of Southern California. Members of the Debate Society appeared in 12 elimination rounds across the tournament, securing five tournament champions, including the top Individual Events Speaker award. The team will continue its season in November at the Paul Winters Invitational Tournament hosted by the University of the Pacific.
