John R. Park Debate Society Dominates Competitions in California; Wins Multiple Tournaments
The John R. Park Debate Society traveled to two separate tournaments in Northridge, California and San Rafael, California on Nov. 2-5, 2018. One portion of the team emerged as the winners of four events at the Robert Barbera Invitational held at California State University-Northridge, while a second portion of the team won the Penguin Invitational held at Dominican University of California. Among these successes, the team of Ashton Poindexter & Chris de Freitas defeated St. Mary’s College of California to win their second tournament of the season. Their teammates, Courtney Nilson & Vivian Lee, turned in a victory over the University of California at Berkeley and Claremont College. In addition to these highlights, the team earned over a dozen top five finishes across the full range of its competitive entries. The team will continue its fall season in Walnut, CA over the weekend of Dec. 1-3, 2018.
