John R. Park Debate Society Finishes Strong in Colorado
The John R. Park Debate Society traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado on October 28-29 to compete at the Al Johnson Memorial Invitational hosted by Colorado College. Six students competed in individual events and debate, facing competition from ten colleges and universities. Among the other institutions in attendance were the West Texas A&M, the University of Texas at El Paso, the Colorado College, and Rice University. The small group earned enough points to secure a second place finish among 4-year institutions, with first-year student Courtney Hardie earning first place in every round to win Persuasive Speaking. The team will look to build on these results when it travels to Torrance, CA for the Crossman Invitational, hosted by El Camino College.
