John R. Park Debate Society Takes Top Honors in San Diego
The John R. Park Debate Society continued its 2022-2023 competitive season on February 3-6, traveling to San Diego, California to compete at the Gaske Memorial hosted by San Diego State University. Seven University of Utah students competed against a field of 13 other schools, including Tulane University, Concordia University Irvine, Point Loma Nazarene University, and the University of Southern California. Members of the Debate Society appeared in 16 elimination rounds across the tournament, securing five tournament champions, including the Dr. Paul Gaske Memorial Individual Sweepstakes award. The team will continue its season on February 17-19 at the Western States Communication Association Tournament hosted by Arizona State University.
