JRP Students Debut CEDA Debate in Houston!

With new leadership and vision for the 2025-2026 competitive season, the JRP headed into its first collegiate tournament with the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA) in over two decades, with competition at the University of Houston. This return to CEDA is historic for the team and demonstrates a shift of focus into the rigorous demands of policy debate. 

On October 11th-13th, eight students (6 in their first year of collegiate debate) represented the university in novice competition against teams from West Point Military Academy, Monmouth, Southwestern, UT San Antonio, and the University of Houston. All four teams achieved winning records, a giant feat for their CEDA debut. 

The debate society will continue its season in November in both speech and CEDA at California State University, Northridge.
