John R. Park Debate Society Excels at Lewis & Clark College
The John R. Park Debate Society continued its competitive season in Portland, Oregon where students attended the Steve Hunt Classic. At the tournaments, the Debate Society faced competition from more 20 colleges and universities, including University of California-Berkeley, Rice University, and Gonzaga University. Across the weekend, the University of Utah’s Team participated in both individual events, NPDA debate, and IPDA debate. With 11 elimination round appearances, the team ended the weekend with a 1-2-3 finish in Extemporaneous Speaking, the third place in individual events, and the fourth place overall school award. The team will look to continue its winning ways when it travels to Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. from Oct. 27 -Oct. 30, 2023.
