John R. Park Debate Swings Big in California
The John R. Park Debate Society traveled to Stockton, CA for its third tournament of the competitive season at the Mustang Invitational and Paul Winters/Pat Kennedy Invitational swing hosted over three days by the University of the Pacific. At the tournament, the team faced competition from twenty colleges and universities. Points from both tournaments are combined to produce an overall swing placing. The University of Utah took first place as a team in the Paul Winters/Pat Kennedy half of the swing and earned enough total points to take 2nd place overall for the swing without entering students in the second half. First year student Jeremy Parrish secured the top spot as the individual earning the most points at the tournament, placing in all of his events. The team will look to conclude its strong fall season at the last tournament of the semester when it travels to the Fall Champs tournament in Walnut, CA on the first weekend of December.
