John R. Park Debate Society Finishes the Fall Season With a Big Win
The John R. Park Debate Society wrapped up its fall season in Walnut, California on December 1-3, 2023, participating in the PSCFA Fall Champs Invitational hosted by Mt. San Antonio College. The team had more than 50 rounds of competition over the weekend with 23 final-round appearances. Additionally, the team won the 4-year sweepstakes title, continuing its six-year winning streak at this tournament against the 39 other teams in attendance, including Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego State University, Northern Arizona University, Concordia University Irvine, and five California State universities. The University of Utah also took second place in the novice division, largely due to the efforts of first-year student Maria Manousakis, who placed in five events. The team will resume competition in the spring when they host the Great Salt Lake tournament on January 13-15.
